Your mouse or keyboard intermittently stops respondingFollow these steps if your mouse or keyboard sometimes stops responding temporarily. Adjusting the scrolling from slow to fast has no effect, the scrolling still does not work. I had tried previously to fix and had given up. Didn't think it would work for ours but it totally did. When I disassembled the whole thing, each wad of dirt was nearly as big as the black magnetic wheels inside the assembly. If a device doesn't appear there, make sure it's charged or replace it batteries, and make sure it has been paired with your Mac. have a peek here It's genius.

I had to persevere and I could actually see the minute particles of dirt on the ball and ran on clean new paper. Amazing how easy this works.
The Magic Keyboard and Magic Trackpad 2 have a slide switch on the back edge of the device. I skipped the step of disconnecting the cables as I didn't want to risk breaking a connector on my 8 year old MM. Tried your clean paper trick but it didn't work. I still have 15% battery.
Before disassembling the mouse, first try scrubbing the mouse ball with a toothbrush and isopropyl alcohol. This didn't work with my finger or my hand, so I turned the mouse upside down on the paper on my desk and scrubbed away.
