Now its Working. However, when I use http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/KB962351/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=2294 , I get "The specified release was not found." When I go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/962351 it lets me go to 969612 hyperlink. You will also enter a whole new world of pain getting your code to look consistent cross-browser. The IE7 META tag worked for me, although overriding z-index property didn't work for some reasons. The asp:menu works fine in IE7 but in IE8 the asp:menu not work well the same as before installation of the patch. Well, it turns out that this is a known issue that the IE8 and ASP.NET teams are working on. Thanks!

It seems to be very common that asp.net menu control is not to be properly displayed in IE8.I have developed a website which contains a master page Editorial NoteThis articles was Will the hotfix solve the problem if I installed it to the IIS server machine? The difference between 6 and 8 is HUGE, and yet many people still use 6, and people are now using 8. Keep on doing and explaining related issues.

The problem was that since the new IE8 is moving closer to standards, the z-index value was set to "auto" when not specified. You might want to give it another shot. If you have higher version as i have IE 9 i check it using F12 but it doesn't show any design issue in IE 8 either in standard or compatible mode. Changed in IE9; Inline autocomplete is back and on-by-default!

The CSS Friendly Adaptor seems like a similar fix but you have to add the dll. I did not use the method posted in that thread, instead, I used a solution posted by user Mark Perkins which to me looked like the simplest and cleanest solution. The asp:Menu control looks horrible in Chrome. This solution very useful to me.
